Why Human Beings Come First

In this post we get philosophical and explore (or Leonard Peikoff explores) one of the fundamental questions about man’s relationship to animals and the environment. He argues (quite successfully in my view) that humans come first in regards to animals and the environment. He argues that the ultimate value to humans has to be humans. Just as the ultimate value to chickens is in fact chickens. He illustrates that it’s a double standard to say that because humans are cognitively superior we should be penalized for our superiority, as this is a common argument as to why we should sustain from using animals for our own benefit. This is a great one hour radio show that includes callers calling in and arguing different viewpoints on the topic. Any farmer raising animals would benefit hearing these arguments.
